Dominguez Career Fair Offers a Unique Experience

Dominguez, TX — The recent Dominguez Career Fair was a resounding success, bringing together employers, resources and residents in a unique event that blended innovation with opportunity. Hosted by the Dominguez Jail and supported by Workbay, the fair provided residents with valuable insight and information toward successful reentry into the workforce and their communities.

One attendee remarked, “ It was my first time being a participant. The event was amazing, giving the participants opportunity and a second chance in life, guiding them in the right direction. Another shared, “Great event! Love what your organization is doing helping these individuals get back to a productive working society.”

A Unique Blend of In-Person and Virtual Hiring to Support Reentry

In contrast to traditional job fairs, the Dominguez Career Fair offered both in person and virtual interviews, allowing access to more employment opportunities. Dan Griffith, a representative from Securus who conducted interviews virtually emphasized the value of virtual interviews by stating, "The ability to conduct live virtual interviews helped us connect with motivated candidates in real time. It’s a powerful way to reach talent that we might not have met otherwise.” Many residents came prepared with the resumes they had filled out on their Workbay app delivered on their tablets. They were able to engage with employers from different industries in the great state of Texas.

Employers Witness Preparedness and Potential Inside the Facility

The focus was on reentry readiness and the importance of preparation for these residents getting ready to transition back into their communities. Employers were able to witness the talent being trained and educated inside facilities like Dominguez. An attendee at the end of the event expressed, “Great event, no complaints, look forward to coming back”
