Millions of people in America have a criminal record.

Many are ready to own their mistakes, learn from the past, and become who they’re meant to be. (Prison Fellowship)

Moving Beyond the past

What is Second Chance Month?

Second Chance Month is recognised each April to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people returning from incarceration and to promote fair access to jobs, housing, and opportunity. It highlights the importance of rehabilitation, reintegration, and giving people the chance to move forward after serving their sentence.

Why It Matters

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people return to their communities after incarceration. Without access to education, employment, and support, many face barriers that make reintegration difficult and increase the risk of reoffending. Second Chance Month brings attention to the role employers, institutions, and communities can play in creating better outcomes for everyone.

Workbay Second Chance Month – Incarcerated Man Working

Workbay and Second Chances

At Workbay, second chances are not a one-month campaign, they are the foundation of how we work. We believe preparation for life beyond incarceration should begin early, continue throughout a sentence, and extend well after release.

Our system supports incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals through job-focused education, skills development, and direct connections to employers. At the same time, we help correctional institutions manage rehabilitation more effectively and support businesses facing critical workforce shortages.

Turning Awareness into Action

Second Chance Month is a reminder that real change happens through sustained effort. By aligning education with employment and supporting people before and after release, Workbay helps turn second chances into lasting opportunity, for individuals, businesses, and communities alike.
